| BioHouston is committed to making the Houston region a world-class competitor
in the life sciences industry. Today, despite the fact that there are 160 life science
companies in our area, awareness of the importance of the biotechnology industry
to our local and state economy is quite limited.
Our goal is to change that situation – dramatically.
This year's annual lunch Celebrating Women in Science will honor extraordinary
leaders in the biotechnology field. The luncheon will honor four women scientists
from the Houston area who are exemplary in their respective fields.
The distinguished nominees for this year’s awards are:
· Melody Boone Meyer of Chevron Energy Technology Company
· Jennifer West, Ph.D., of Rice University
· Jessica Zenker of YES Preparatory School
· Huda Zoghbi, M.D. of Texas Children’s Hospital
By celebrating the achievements of women leaders in science, BioHouston’s goal is to
inspire others to pursue research and applications that will spur economic growth
and prosperity for our region and our state as a whole. |
